ERC inspects San Lorenzo wind farm to strengthen renewable energy oversight

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has conducted an inspection of the 54-megawatt (MW) San Lorenzo Wind Power Plant in Guimaras as part of its continuing efforts to enhance regulatory oversight and support renewable energy development in the Philippines.

The visit took place on October 27, 2025, and was hosted by ACEN Corporation and its subsidiary Guimaras Wind Corporation (GWC). ERC Chairperson and CEO Atty. Francis Saturnino C. Juan and Commissioner Paris G. Real led the activity, joined by ERC staff and technical personnel.

The San Lorenzo Wind Power Plant, developed by GWC, is the first wind farm in the Visayas region and has a total installed capacity of 54 MW. It generates over 87 gigawatt-hours of clean energy annually—enough to power around 29,000 households—while avoiding approximately 55,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

During the inspection, GWC presented the plant’s operations, maintenance, and safety protocols and reviewed its compliance with regulatory and environmental standards. The engagement also served as a platform for collaboration between the ERC and ACEN on best practices for renewable energy operations and sustainability.

The ERC said its ongoing plant visits and technical inspections reflect its commitment to transparency, reliability, and consumer protection while also advancing the country’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
