AboitizPower emphasized the importance of reliable and affordable energy in supporting the fishing and cold storage industries that drive the economy of Navotas City.
Speaking at the Navotas Business Conference 2025 held on October 28–29, Lou Jason Deligencia, Assistant Vice President for Corporate Services at AboitizPower’s Transition Business Group and Therma Mobile Inc., said dependable electricity is vital to sustaining the city’s role as the Fishing Capital of the Philippines.
Navotas supplies roughly 70% of Metro Manila’s fish, with its cold storage facilities and seafood processing plants depending heavily on continuous power. Deligencia said that even short power interruptions could disrupt operations, damage stocks, and directly affect fishermen’s livelihoods and food supply security.
He noted that AboitizPower’s approach to energy reliability is anchored on its three operational pillars — reliability, affordability, and responsibility — which guide how the company ensures stable electricity supply while supporting the government’s clean energy goals.
Deligencia highlighted the role of Therma Mobile Inc. (TMO), a 107-megawatt oil-fired power barge facility located within the Navotas Fishport Complex, in maintaining grid stability and serving as an emergency source of power for the city. The facility provides ancillary services capable of supplying electricity within five minutes during grid fluctuations or outages, making it a key asset in protecting the cold storage network that keeps Navotas’ fishing industry afloat.
Through TMO and its broader generation and retail network, AboitizPower continues to position itself as a partner for industrial growth, offering energy solutions that balance stability, sustainability, and affordability.
“Electricity is not just an economic requirement — it’s a social responsibility,” Deligencia said, emphasizing the company’s commitment to ensuring that communities and industries dependent on reliable energy can thrive.
