Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has officially opened its annual Liwanag Park at the Meralco Operating Center in Pasig City, ushering in the 2025 holiday season with a public Christmas attraction anchored on sustainability and interactive technology.
This year’s display carries the theme “A Brighter Christmas for All,” highlighted by a large-scale 3D mapping presentation projected onto the façade of the historic Lopez Building using Panasonic technology. The projection serves as the visual centerpiece of the park, drawing visitors to the utility’s headquarters for nightly holiday viewing.
Sustainability remains a central design feature of Liwanag Park, with many of the installations built from repurposed and recycled materials. These include a 45-foot Christmas tree, miniature houses made of reused copper wires, and tunnels of multicolored LED lights with bulbs mounted inside used electric meter covers. Also returning this year is the giant belen, a traditional Filipino nativity display that remains one of the park’s most recognizable elements.
In addition to the static displays, visitors can also ride the tranvia and explore various interactive features set up across the park grounds, reinforcing Meralco’s annual push to combine energy awareness with community engagement during the holiday season.
Liwanag Park is open to the public from December 1 to 23, 2025, from 6PM to 10PM and from December 24 to 31, 2025, from 6PM until midnight. Admission is free, with Meralco reminding visitors to observe safety protocols while inside the park.
The annual lighting tradition has become a consistent platform for Meralco to showcase energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, and community participation alongside its core power distribution operations.
