AboitizPower rolls out buy-now, pay-later for power bills in 5 DUs

Aboitiz Power Corporation has enabled “buy now, pay later” electricity payments across five of its distribution utilities, integrating Billease into its MobileAP platform through QR Ph.

AboitizPower said the feature is available immediately across the five DUs’ franchise areas in the Visayas, Mindanao, and Southern Luzon. The company described it as the first time traditional electric utilities operating across these regions are offering this type of pay-later option through a unified digital channel.

The update allows customers of Visayan Electric, Davao Light, Cotabato Light, Subic EnerZone, and Lima EnerZone to settle power bills via Billease using the national QR Ph standard.

The move signals a deeper push by distribution utilities (DUs) into embedded consumer finance—an approach that could influence collection efficiency, customer retention, and digital adoption in regional markets outside Metro Manila.

Under the arrangement, customers can either settle their bills at 0% interest until their next declared payday or convert balances into installments of up to six months, subject to their available Billease credit. The payment flow generates a QR Ph code within the MobileAP app, which users upload or scan in the Billease app to complete the transaction.

“Integrating Billease into MobileAP reflects our commitment to empowering the evolution of our cities,” said Melody Lim, Head of Customer Experience at AboitizPower. “This partnership represents a meaningful step forward in modernizing utility payments and advancing a more inclusive, digitally enabled payment ecosystem across the regions served by our distribution utilities.”

For Billease, the rollout represents its most extensive utility partnership to date, expanding installment-based payment options into essential services.

“This partnership with MobileAP and Billease demonstrates how digital financial services can democratize access to essential utilities beyond Metro Manila,” said Kurt Molina, Head of POS Product at Billease. “We’re proud to enable millions of Filipino households to manage their electricity payments with greater flexibility and control.”
