Chevron Philippines Inc. has completed a PHP 170 million upgrade to its fuel terminal in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, which enables the facility to receive international import vessels and strengthen fuel supply logistics in Central Visayas.
The investment, as reported initially by Manila Bulletin, increased the terminal’s storage capacity to 150,000 barrels, or about 24 million liters, allowing the site to facilitate both international fuel shipments and domestic distribution.
The upgraded terminal recently marked an operational milestone with the arrival of MT Chang Hang Fei Yue, its first international vessel. The tanker arrived from South Korea and offloaded fuel products following coordination between Chevron’s local operations team and Philippine regulators.
Chevron said the expanded capabilities allow the facility to receive direct shipments from overseas refineries, improving the efficiency of its fuel supply chain.
The company estimates the upgrade could unlock around PHP 55 million in annual value by streamlining fuel logistics and improving distribution across Central Visayas.
Located in Lapu-Lapu City, the terminal serves as Chevron’s gateway for fuel supply in the region. The company said the improved infrastructure is expected to support retail partners and commercial customers by ensuring a more reliable supply of fuel products.
“Our investment in the Lapu-Lapu terminal is a sign that Chevron is here to stay and will continue to boost the capacity of our other local terminals,” said Pongtorn “Bon” Tangmanuswong, Chevron Philippines Inc. general manager and country chairman.
“We want to move more safe quality Caltex fuels around the country. This is part of our wider mission of ensuring that all corners of the Philippines have access to a reliable fuel and energy source,” he concluded.
