Ortigas Land, Advent Upgrade Solar seal 20-year solar PPA for GH Mall

Ortigas Land Corporation has secured a long-term renewable energy supply for its GH Mall through a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Advent Upgrade Solar Inc. (AUSI), marking another step in the retail developer’s push toward integrating clean energy into its estate operations.

Under the agreement, AUSI will install a 1,587.20 kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar photovoltaic (PV) system to power GH Mall in San Juan City. The project forms part of Ortigas Land’s broader strategy to embed sustainability into its flagship developments while managing long-term energy costs and operational efficiency.

“At Ortigas Land, our trajectory reflects a commitment to progress that goes beyond development. We do this by creating places that remain meaningful over time,” said Ortigas Land Vice President and Head of Ortigas Malls Arch. Renee Bacani.

The company said the integration of renewable energy into the mall supports a more sustainable facility management approach, aimed at improving both environmental performance and the customer experience within its estates.

“As we celebrate our 95th year, this partnership with AUSI strengthens the sustainable foundations of GH Mall,” Bacani shared. “It ensures that we continue to create an environment where businesses can thrive and where the stories of families within the Ortigas community can grow and unfold for generations to come.”

For AUSI, the deal underscores the growing demand for distributed solar solutions among large commercial and industrial users seeking energy security and cost optimization over the long term.

“We are proud to be a partner in environmental stewardship for Ortigas Land as they continue to build great places for life,” said AUSI Chairperson and Upgrade Energy Philippines President and CEO Ruth Yu-Owen.

“Through this 20-year collaboration, AUSI will deliver a solar solution that not only supports the operational goals of GH Mall, but also enhances the everyday experiences of Filipino families and mall-goers who have made these spaces part of their own life stories” she added.

AUSI, a joint venture between Aboitiz Power Distributed Renewables, Inc. and Upgrade Energy Philippines, develops, builds, and operates distributed solar solutions for commercial and industrial customers.

The deal adds to a growing pipeline of long-term renewable energy PPAs in the Philippines’ commercial real estate sector, as developers increasingly lock in clean power supply to hedge against volatility in electricity costs while meeting sustainability commitments.

How significant are long-term solar PPAs like this in reshaping energy strategy for malls and large estates in the Philippines?
