Petron Corporation has appointed John Paul L. Ang as its new President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), following the company’s Annual Stockholders’ Meeting (ASM) on May 7.
The appointment was approved during Petron’s organizational meeting held after the ASM, where the company also elected its officers and board members for 2026–2027.
Under the new leadership structure, Ramon S. Ang will remain as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), while John Paul Ang, his eldest son, assumes responsibility as president and COO.
The disclosure also showed that John Paul Ang was elected as a director of the company and appointed as an alternate member of Petron’s Executive Committee.
The move formalizes a restructuring of Petron’s top leadership positions, separating the roles of chairman and CEO from the company’s presidency and operational management.
Petron is the Philippines’ largest oil company and operates the Petron Bataan Refinery, the country’s only remaining oil refinery.
The leadership change comes as the company continues navigating volatile global oil markets and supply disruptions linked to ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
The appointment also expands John Paul Ang’s operational leadership responsibilities within the broader San Miguel group, where he already serves as vice chairman, president, and COO of San Miguel Corporation.
However, the company did not describe the move as part of a formal succession plan.
