Energy Development Corporation has confirmed the death of four of its employees who were aboard the Cessna 340 plane that crashed near the Mayon Volcano crater.

“We mourn the passing of our dear colleagues, Captain Rufino James Crisostomo Jr., Joel G Martin, Simon Chipperfield, & Karthi Santhanam, who were on board the Aircraft RP-C-2080 that was reported missing Saturday shortly after taking off from the Bicol International Airport,” EDC said in a statement on Wednesday.

Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Tuesday confirmed that the wreckage found near the Mayon crater was the Cessa 340 plane, owned by EDC, that went missing in Bicol over the weekend.

“The local government has declared that the rescue efforts have now been reclassified as retrieval efforts,” EDC said.

The Cessna 340 plane went missing last Saturday morning, around three minutes after taking off from the Bicol International Airport.

Among those on board the Cessna plane includes two Australian nationals who were consultants of EDC.
