Former National Renewable Energy Board (NREB) chairperson Atty. Monalisa Dimalanta will be joining Aboitiz Power Corporation as its new compliance officer.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Monday, AboitizPower said that Dimalanta will replace Ma. Consolacion Mercado for the said post following the reorganization of its legal and compliance team.
Dimalanta chaired NREB from 2019 to 2021. Together with the Department of Energy’s Renewable Energy Management Bureau, she firmed up the National Renewable Energy Plan, which would cement the country’s transition to renewable energy (RE).
Under her term, NREB helped with the establishment of the Green Energy Auction Program, which was designed to help the country meet its goals under Republic Act 9513 or the RE Act of 2008.
Before joining NREB, Dimalanta served as a senior partner in the Puyat Jacinto & Santos law firm, where she also headed its energy practice until March 2019.
Dimalanta obtained her bachelor’s degrees in law and journalism from the University of the Philippines. She also holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Michigan and completed the Senior Fellowship Programme at the National University of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. The 49-year old lawyer is also a professor at the Ateneo De Manila University’s Law School and School of Government.
On Monday, AboitizPower – the country’s largest power generator – also reported a profit increase of 66% in 2021. The company also announced last year that it is investing Php190 billion to up its RE portfolio.
