Power PH – PetroGreen Bolsters RE Leadership with Isabela Solar Training

Yuchengco-led PetroGreen Energy Corporation (PGEC) is reinforcing its stature as a renewable energy leader by investing heavily in local talent for its ambitious 40MWDC Limbauan Solar Power Project (LSPP). On March 18, 2025, PGEC, through its subsidiary BKS Green Energy Corporation (BKS), teamed up with the San Pablo local government, Schema Konsult Inc., Trina Solar, and Powerway to deliver a solar panel installation training to over 300 residents of Barangay Limbauan and surrounding areas.

The training, a cornerstone of PGEC’s strategy for the LSPP, equipped participants with hands-on skills in photovoltaic (PV) panel handling, transport, and installation. Certificates awarded at the session’s close underscored the company’s focus on boosting employability in a sector hungry for skilled workers. With the LSPP expected to generate 500-600 jobs at peak construction, PGEC’s emphasis on local hiring is set to transform Isabela’s economic landscape while advancing the Philippines’ renewable energy goals.

“This solar installation training aims to equip the local residents with necessary skills and fundamental know-how on solar installation,” said Yrel V. Ventura, PGEC Assistant Vice President for Environment and Community Relations. “It is part of our commitment to enhancing local talent and promoting green jobs in the region. But more than the job generation, we are proud that our training will provide new skill sets, enhancing the participants’ employability in the solar and renewable energy sector.”

This marks the fourth training program PGEC has conducted, building on proven efforts in Luzon and Visayas that have cemented its reputation for blending infrastructure projects with social impact.

Local leaders hailed the initiative’s inclusive approach. “This training is a good opportunity for the participants to learn new skills and gives them the confidence to contribute to the Limbauan Solar Project, which is a first in our community,” said Brgy. Limbauan Chair Babylin Pagarigan. “I feel proud that all of us will be part of something that will benefit our community and the environment. I’m glad that BKS also considered involving the women in our Barangay.”

Isabela Mayor Antonio N. Miro, Jr., who attended the event, thanked PGEC and its partners for prioritizing San Pablo’s workforce, noting the project’s potential to elevate the region’s renewable energy profile.

For PGEC, a veteran in the Philippines’ clean energy sector, the LSPP training is more than preparation for a single project—it’s a blueprint for sustainable growth. By fostering skills and opportunities, the company is proving that renewable energy can power communities as much as it powers homes.
