GreenHeat urges rooftop solar as hedge against rising electricity costs

GreenHeat Corp. is urging consumers to consider solar rooftop systems as a practical, long-term solution to rising electricity costs, as volatility in global fuel prices continues to impact power rates in the Philippines.

The company said the country’s reliance on imported fuel for power generation exposes consumers to fluctuations in global supply, which can translate into higher electricity prices over time.

“By installing a solar rooftop system, however, you are effectively locking in a portion of your electricity cost for the next 20 years to 25 years,” said Director Glenn Tong.

GreenHeat said solar photovoltaic systems can also deliver financial benefits beyond energy savings, with potential savings of up to 30% over time, depending on system design and usage.

“While conventional options may yield modest annual returns, solar PV systems can deliver up to 30% savings over time,” Tong explained.

Solar rooftop systems allow households and businesses to generate electricity onsite, reducing dependence on grid-supplied power and providing a degree of protection from fuel-driven price increases and exchange rate volatility.

The company said this approach gives users greater control over their energy consumption and costs, particularly as global energy markets remain uncertain.

“As fuel prices and exchange rates remain volatile, creating savings for your home or business for the next few decades is a practical way of hedging and preparing for the future,” Tong said.

GreenHeat, which has over 20 years of experience in the industry, has installed more than 48 megawatts of solar capacity across commercial, industrial, and residential projects.

Its portfolio includes clients such as educational institutions, multinational organizations, and commercial establishments, reflecting growing adoption of solar solutions across sectors.

The company provides end-to-end services covering engineering design, system installation, and long-term operations and maintenance, with performance monitoring and system audits aimed at ensuring consistent output over time.

As electricity costs remain sensitive to global fuel market movements, solar rooftop systems are increasingly being positioned as a way for consumers to manage long-term energy expenses while reducing reliance on conventional power sources.
