Unit 1 of First Gen Corporation’s 97-megawatt (MW) Avion Power Plant in Batangas City is now fully operational after two months of repairs, testing, and recommissioning.
“We are advising that the unit is now also commercially available on liquid fuel,” the Lopez-led firm said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange.
Last week, First Gen advised that the generator was partially operational on natural gas.
The 48.5MW Unit 1’s gas turbines were damaged in December last year, around a month after resuming full operations.
The power plant uses General Electric LM60000 PC dual fuel aero-derivative gas turbines.
Meanwhile, Avion’s 48.5MW unit 2 remains fully operational.
Avion is one of the country’s five plants feeding on fuel from the Malampaya gas field in Palawan.
