First Gen Corporation’s 97-megawatt (MW) Avion dual-fuel power plant in Batangas City is now back in full commercial operation for both natural gas and liquid fuel.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Thursday, the Lopez-led firm that recommissioning tests for the plant’s 48.5MW Unit 2 using fuel from the Malampaya gas field have been completed.
First Gen reported on October 21 that recommissioning tests for liquid fuel were completed, but could not proceed to fuel operation since it was waiting for Malampaya to return to service. Malampaya went on a maintenance shutdown from October 2-22.
Unit 2’s compressor was discovered to be damaged during a routine check in August. General Electric, the compressor’s manufacturer, performed the repairs.
