From just Biliran yesterday, power has also gone out in Samar and Leyte, resulting in the entire Eastern Visayas having no electricity following the onslaught of Typhoon Odette, according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).

The outages in both Samar and Leyte — Eastern Visayas’ major islands — were first reported by NGCP on Friday night. Eight of its transmission lines went out of service, affecting customers of eight electric cooperatives in the region.

The entire Bohol and Surigao Del Norte remain without power. Odette made landfall in both provinces, as well as in Southern Leyte.

Electricity services have also been cut in some areas of Negros Occidental.

Meanwhile, power has been fully restored in Misamis Oriental and Camiguin.

Power remains partly out in Cebu, Negros Oriental, Iloilo, Antique, Misamis Occidental, Lanao Del Norte, Agusan Del Norte, Agusan Del Sur, Surigao Del Sur, and Davao Oriental.

NGCP has mobilized 47 line crews composed of 300 personnel and two choppers to conduct repair and restoration to lines and facilities in areas already accessible.

According to PAGASA’s 11AM bulletin on Saturday, Odette was last spotted over the West Philippine Sea and is about to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
