Anjo World Goes Green: Cebu’s Largest Theme Park Now Runs on Renewable Energy

Anjo World Theme Park, the heart of Cebu’s entertainment scene, is taking its sustainability efforts up a notch. Through a groundbreaking partnership with First Gen Corporation, the theme park and its host commercial complex, Belmont One, will be running on 750 kilowatts of geothermal energy.

The agreement, signed on February 13, 2025, marks a significant milestone in Belmont One’s long-term sustainability commitment. By shifting to clean, renewable power, the company is ensuring that the region’s largest amusement park—along with its retail and dining establishments—reduces its carbon footprint while keeping operations cost-efficient and future-proof.

Belmont One President Chester Lim emphasized the company’s proactive approach to adopting greener solutions.

“We are committed to continuous innovation and the adoption of more efficient, forward-thinking solutions in our operations. Since January 2016, we have been actively pursuing renewable energy initiatives and exploring ways to increase our reliance on stable, sustainable power sources. By transitioning to renewable energy, we are not only optimizing our energy costs but also making significant strides toward achieving our sustainability goals and minimizing our environmental impact.”

Beyond the 750-kilowatt power supply agreement, Belmont One has also installed solar panels within the commercial complex, ensuring that multiple renewable sources contribute to its overall energy mix.

“Theme parks consume a significant amount of power, not to mention the environmental impact of their operations. But they also contribute significantly to the local economy,” said Arlene Sy, Head of Power Sales and Marketing at First Gen. “Through our partnership with Belmont One, we are helping the Anjo World Theme Park shift to cleaner electricity.”

Additionally, First Gen, together with its sister company Pi Energy Inc., will provide Belmont One with a remote energy monitoring system, allowing real-time tracking of electricity consumption. This system will enable Anjo World and its commercial tenants to make more informed decisions on energy efficiency.

As the largest integrated family entertainment complex in Visayas and Mindanao, Anjo World is setting a new standard for sustainable tourism and commercial operations. The theme park’s move to renewable energy reinforces the Belmont Group’s broader commitment to sustainable development across its business ventures, including hospitality, retail, and real estate.
